Designing a resume scoring rubric that hiring managers trust

Criteria, weights, and 0–4 anchors — how to make rubric-based, evidence-backed screening explainable.

A rubric is only useful if reviewers understand what a “3” means for each criterion — and can point to resume text that supports it.

Keep 3–6 criteria

Too many dimensions create noise. Focus on job-relevant skills and experience signals you can actually observe in a resume.

Weights should reflect priority

Weights must sum to 100. If required stack experience matters more than nice-to-have tools, say so numerically.

Anchors beat vibes

0–4 anchors describe observable evidence. That reduces disagreement between two humans reading the same file.

ReviewStack can draft a rubric from the job description; you confirm before any scoring runs. Details on how it works.
